Gifting - Just Not An Obligation But A Pleasure For Someone

Why is gifting considered an obligation? For most it is stressful and nerve wrecking, for some it is fun and entertaining even if they have no clue what they should buy. People are all racking their brains to figure out what they're going to get to gift their friends and family. The routine stress can morph into panic. We splurge on gifts that our receivers might not even appreciate! infact most of the time the gifts are returned back to the stores in exchange for a gift of their own choice.

As we step in to new year, so many of us make resolutions to lose weight, stop smoking, go to church, stick to a budget, and the list goes on! So why not add another one which is really important is to "Gift What They Want" and discover their wishes and fulfil their dreams. On an average a Person buys gifts for others atleast between 10-20 times in a year.

As it is Said Happiness is a Choice, not a Gift! Similarly Gifting is a skill not an Obligation, this reminds me of an incident. My Realtor, who helped us purchase our dream home two years back left an impeccable impression on our mind. As a result, we have been recommending her services to all our friends. In return she feels obligated and every time she closes a deal for any of my referrals, a beautiful thank you card along with a gift card mailed to us. Everyone feel happy when a person got gift from someone he likes most. This got me thinking and I wondered, would I have appreciated worth the dollar amount instead of a gift card? Was she putting enough attention to the details on what I wanted ?

This is where Good Square could do it better. She could have accessed my wish list and the site would also provide her tools and gift ideas to match her preferences and price range. This kind of gifting gesture goes a long way and makes people feel nice about themselves. Why not treat gifting just as a form of expressing love and appreciation. After all haven’t we been taught "The more you give the happier you will feel". The intention of gifting should always be to create happiness in others and ones life. It should be your goal to enjoy some genuine joie de vivre this holiday season.
